Mt. Hood and Zigzag Falls

Grab some bottles of water, some snacks, cameras and hoodies and head out. That's basically what we keep doing. No major planning, just load up in the truck and go. Since Greg and I got married and moved to Cape Cod, we've spent weekends/days off work, this way. It doesn't matter where we are or what the area has to offer, exploring is what we love and do best. We explore sights, malls, back roads, it doesn't matter, as long as we're exploring together. We've continued this throughout our life, adding a couple of little people to the back seat along the way.

Heading out towards Mt. Hood, we stopped to hike to Zigzag Falls, which is obviously on the Zigzag River, which flows from the Zigzag Glacier on Mt. Hood. Are you tired of reading "Zigzag" yet? LOL

We also came across The Original Wagon Route/Barlow Rd. We hiked down the wagon route for quite a ways, while I snap pics to text to Johnny.  He and I have on going jokes about seeing a deer leap by and then one of the Cullens tackling it to the ground. Or seeing bright, sparkly light, to discover it's one of the Cullens in the sunlight through the trees. (Oh shut it, don't be a Twilight Hater) haha

After our hike, we drove to the other side to Barlow Rd. We snuck the Dodges nose in there a bit, checking things out. Me being me, I was nervous the entire time. There's just a different feeling when you're in a long bed truck with no exo cage and street tires, on a road only wide enough for one vehicle, and it ALWAYS seems like the drop off down the mountain is ON MY SIDE!!! We were considering maybe a camping trip and 4-Runner run but not sure about dropping the trailer/tow rig in a secure place and it's certainly too far to run just the 4-Runner there.

Anyway, we wandered ALL AROUND, ending up MUCH further from home than we anticipated and drove back along the Columbia River Gorge (I-84), which is the way we came in when we moved here. THAT drive is a beautiful one!!! There's still a lot just along that route that we want to head back out to see.

I have a feeling, we'll NEVER run out of areas to explore around here.
